Ghirardelli Helps Consumers Grant Wishes through Holiday Baking
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (June 11, 2007) — The holiday season is a special time for loved ones to gather, and fresh, home-baked desserts have always had a place at the table. This year, the Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, one of the country’s oldest premium chocolate makers and the leader in premium baking chocolate, is celebrating the season by offering consumers the chance to experience the joy of giving when they do their holiday baking.
Ghirardelli is helping to support the granting of wishes through a $100,000 contribution to the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, the nation’s largest wish-granting organization for children with life-threatening medical conditions. From October through December, Ghirardelli baking bars and baking chips will feature the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s logo inviting consumers to share the joy of baking this holiday season.
“Many of us have great memories of baking with family and friends during the holidays, and Ghirardelli has long been a part of that tradition,” said Fabrizio Parini, senior vice president of marketing for Ghirardelli. “We believe in the mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and are looking forward to supporting their efforts this holiday season.”
Chocolate lovers can help Ghirardelli grant even more wishes and also treat themselves this holiday season:
- Consumers can show their support for the Make-A-Wish® program by registering online at Ghirardelli.com. Ghirardelli is in turn committing an additional $30,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation through this online program to grant more wishes.
- New registrants will be entered into a drawing to win one of five KitchenAid mixers (valued at $300) or a year’s supply of Ghirardelli baking products (valued at $800).
- A holiday cookie recipe has been developed exclusively for the Ghirardelli Make-A-Wish program by Emily Luchetti, 2004 James Beard Foundation Pastry Chef of the Year.
“The holiday season is one of our busiest wish-granting times, and thanks to Ghirardelli’s generosity, we will be able to grant even more magical wishes to courageous wish kids,” said David Williams, Make-A-Wish Foundation of America president and chief executive officer. “A wish experience brings joy – not only to our wish children, but to their families, friends, and entire communities.”
