SAN LEANDRO, CA- Ghirardelli Chocolate Company is pleased to announce that it is now a Certified Green Business in Alameda County!

The Bay Area Green Business Program verifies that businesses in the 9 participating counties meet higher standards of environmental performance. The partnership of government agencies and utilities helps local businesses comply with environmental regulations and take actions to conserve resources, prevent pollution, minimize waste, and reduce their carbon footprint. The Bay Area Green Business Program offers businesses and agencies an easy-to-use framework for improving environmental performance. More than 1,800 businesses and public agencies have been certified since 1997.

Ghirardelli demonstrated its commitment to the environment by establishing a Sustainability Team which diligently worked through the many requirements of the Alameda County Green Business Program. These requirements focused on energy and water conservation, solid waste reduction and recycling, and pollution prevention.  All of these measures contribute toward helping to improve our environment and have the added benefit of reducing overall costs.
